SK consolidated operating profit hits 8.51 trillion won

The investment firm reported a consolidated operating profit of 8.51 trillion won for the first half of 2026.

The investment and IT services provider SK reported a consolidated operating profit of 8.51 trillion won for the first half of 2026, compared to 636.67 billion won in the same period of 2025. This growth was driven largely by the SK Square affiliate, which recorded an operating profit of 27.51 trillion won.

Consolidated revenue for the first half of 2026 reached 78.95 trillion won, up from 61.18 trillion won during the first half of 2025. The SK Innovation affiliate contributed 53.45 trillion won to this total, representing 49.02% of the company's revenue. Within the SK Innovation segment, the petroleum business generated 21.23 trillion won from crude fuel and other products.

Operating performance varied across other business lines. The SK Innovation affiliate shifted from an operating loss of 432.31 billion won in the first half of 2025 to an operating profit of 5.65 trillion won in the first half of 2026. The SK Eco Plant affiliate also saw an increase in operating profit, rising to 1.47 trillion won from 214.14 billion won in the prior-year period.

Conversely, the SK Telecom affiliate saw its revenue share drop to 8.03% from 13.11% in the first half of 2025. Its operating profit for the current period was 1.10 trillion won, compared to 905.64 billion won in the first half of 2025. The SKC affiliate continued to report operating losses, posting a negative 43.16 billion won for the first half of 2026.

Regional revenue was concentrated in the home country, where the company generated 83.94 trillion won. Other regions included Asia at 33.99 trillion won, North America at 14.99 trillion won, and Europe at 6.57 trillion won.

The company said it is investing in advanced materials and technology to strengthen its position in semiconductors and batteries. This includes expanding high-value lineups for DRAM and developing next-generation materials like copper foil for electric vehicles. In the bio sector, the company is focusing on innovative drug development and contract development and manufacturing organization services. The company also intends to expand its green energy and eco-friendly solution businesses by utilizing its energy value chain infrastructure.
