Axogen to Buy BioCircuit Technologies in $200 Million Cash Deal
The peripheral-nerve-repair company said the purchase of NerveTape, the first FDA-approved sutureless repair device, will broaden its addressable market.
Axogen, Inc. (AXGN) agreed to acquire BioCircuit Technologies, Inc. for $200 million in cash at closing, and the all-cash transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The deal adds NerveTape™, the first FDA-approved device for sutureless peripheral nerve repair. The product broadens its addressable market within Axogen’s existing focus markets and is expected to accelerate adoption through Axogen’s commercial infrastructure, surgeon relationships and hospital contracting.
Axogen is the leading company focused specifically on the science, development and commercialization of technologies for peripheral nerve regeneration and repair. Its portfolio includes Avance® Nerve Graft, a processed human nerve allograft for bridging severed peripheral nerves, along with a line of Axoguard ECM products for coaptation, protection and neuroma prevention, and Avive+ Soft Tissue Matrix™. The products are available in the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, South Korea and several other countries.
The acquisition sits on top of a regulatory shift that has already reshaped the company’s flagship product. In December 2025, the FDA approved a Biologics License Application for Avance® (acellular nerve allograft-arwx), an acellular nerve scaffold for sensory, mixed and motor peripheral nerve discontinuities in patients aged 1 month or older, with the larger-gap indications granted under Accelerated Approval and continued approval contingent on confirmatory studies. Chief Executive Officer Michael Dale said the approval represented a meaningful shift from Axogen’s historical classification as a human tissue product and brought Avance in line with the FDA’s classification of the product as a biologic.
In January 2026, Dale said the approval of Avance as a biologic therapeutic option, combined with momentum across the business, gave the company confidence that its mission to make restoration of peripheral nerve function an expected standard of care was progressing as planned.
Axogen’s 2025–2028 strategic plan lists commercial infrastructure and salesforce expansion, product development for better benefit-versus-risk profiles in nerve care, an elective and planned-procedure focus, and prostate-market development as priorities. Axogen is a trusted partner to more than 6,500 surgeons and has established access in more than 2,700 hospitals and outpatient centers, supported by a dedicated direct sales channel for nerve repair.
“This acquisition advances our mission to restore health and improve quality of life by making restoration of peripheral nerve function an expected standard of care,” said Michael Dale, President and Chief Executive Officer of Axogen.
The $200 million cash purchase is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
